Why your dog should enroll in a Canine Good Citizen, Community Canine, or Urban CGC class...

The Canine Good Citizen® (CGC), Community Canine® (CGCA), and Urban CGC® (CGCU) programs are designed to reward dogs who have good manners and stress responsible pet ownership.
All dogs that pass the 10-step CGC test, CGCA test, or CGCU test are eligible to receive a title from the American Kennel Club (AKC).
These programs lay the foundation for other activities such as obedience, agility, tracking, and therapy work.
The Canine Good Citizen program is the introductory level and a prerequisite to the Community Canine program and the Urban CGC program. The CGC certification is also a prerequisite for most therapy organizations.
Dogs that have a solid obedience education are a joy to live with; they respond well to household routines and have good manners in the presence of people and other dogs.
The CGC, CGCA, and CGCU programs are some of the most rapidly growing programs in the American Kennel Club (AKC). These programs ensure that the dogs we love will always be welcomed, well respected members of our communities.

Canine Good Citizen® - Class (Age: 6 months and over)

This class prepares you and your dog for the Canine Good Citizen test and is also a great class to prepare your dog for behaving responsibly around other people, other dogs, and distractions. We recommend completion of Obedience - Level 1 and Obedience - Level 2 (or equivalent) prior to enrolling in this class. The CGC test will be administered during the final class session. The test fee is included in the cost of the class. The Canine Good Citizen class is the same as Obedience - Level 3.

After completing the registration form, you will receive a confirmation email with details regarding the class location and how to submit payment. Registration and payment is required prior to the class start date. Checks, Paypal, and Venmo accepted.

Canine Good Citizen® - Test (Age: 6 months and over)

If your dog has already mastered the skills taught during the Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) class, you are welcome to register for the test, without attending the CGC class.

Community Canine® - Class (Age: 1 year and over)

This class prepares you and your dog for the Community Canine test and is also a great class to prepare your dog for behaving responsibly when out and about in the community. This class focuses on obedience skills and good manners in public places such as shopping centers, playgrounds, and parks. We recommend completion of the Canine Good Citizen class (or equivalent) prior to enrolling in this class. The CGCA test will be administered during the final class session. The test fee is included in the cost of the class. The Community Canine class is the same as Obedience - Level 4.

Community Canine® - Test (Age: 1 year and over)

Urban CGC® - Class (Age: 1 year and over)

This class prepares you and your dog for the Urban CGC test and is also a great class to prepare your dog for behaving responsibly in an urban environment. This class focuses on obedience skills and good manners in an environment where there are cars, crowds, streets to be crossed, startling noises, and inside dog friendly buildings. We recommend completion of the Canine Good Citizen class (or equivalent) prior to enrolling in this class. The CGCU test will be administered during the final class session. The test fee is included in the cost of the class. The Urban CGC class is the same as Obedience - Level 5.
